ABOUT POLDARK

HYPNOTHERAPY

PSYCHOANALYST

PSYCHOTHERAPIST

hypnotic suggestion

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic practice that uses guided hypnosis to help a client reach a trance-like state of focus, concentration, diminished peripheral awareness and heightened suggestibility.

This state is similar to being completely absorbed in a book, movie, music or even one’s own thoughts or meditations.

In it, a person is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but they are not under anyone’s “control.” Instead, Poldark, a trained Clinical Hypnotherapist, can help clients in this state relax and turn their attention inward to discover and utilise resources within themselves, that can help them achieve desired behavioural changes.

Eventually, the client will learn how to address their state of awareness on their own and in doing so, gain greater control of their physical and psychological responses.

ANALYTICAL THERAPY

A Psychoanalyst helps people understand their unconscious mind to gain insight into their thoughts and behaviours. The goal is to help clients identify and change negative behaviours, heal from past experiences and improve their lives.

Psychoanalysts use a variety of techniques, including:

Free-flowing conversation:

Poldark will often meet with his clients at least once a week to have open conversations.

Reflecting concerns:

Psychoanalysts act as a blank slate, reflecting their clients’ concerns and helping them identify patterns in their thoughts and behaviours.

Searching subconscious memories:

Poldark will look for the source of a client’s difficulties in their subconscious memories, rather than focusing on conscious memories.

REGRESSION THERAPY

A Psychotherapist uses talk therapy and ‘Regression Therapy’ to help clients live a better, healthier life. Psychotherapy has been shown to improve emotions and behaviour and to go along with positive changes in the body and brain.

A Psychotherapist’s role in talk therapy is to:

  • Offer a solution for the clients’ problem
  • Engage in discussion about it
  • Help the client understand what they are going through
  • Analyse the conversation
  • Help the client to change their actions

Poldark will use talk therapy to help clients work through daily life troubles that include:

  • Resolving relationship problems
  • Easing anxiety or stress from work or other situations
  • Living with major life changes
  • Managing unhealthy reactions
  • Coming to terms with a serious health issue
  • Recovering from abuse
  • Handling sexual problems
  • Getting better sleep

Sometimes these daily issues can become bigger challenges. Psychotherapists help treat most mental health disorders like:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Mood disorders
  • Addictions
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorders

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

Deciding to seek counselling or therapy is a really positive step to take but, understandably, you may have some questions. Here are some of the more common questions Poldarks’ clients have had…

What should I expect?

What is therapy like?

Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, therapy will be different depending on the individual.  In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue and report progress (or any new insights gained) from the previous therapy session. Depending on your specific needs, therapy can be short-term, for a specific issue, or longer-term, to deal with more difficult patterns or your desire for more personal development.  Either way, it is most common to schedule regular sessions with your therapist (usually weekly).

It is important to understand that you will get more results from therapy if you actively participate in the process. The ultimate purpose of therapy is to help you bring what you learn and/or discover in session back into your life.

Do I really need therapy?

I CAN USUALLY HANDLE MY PROBLEMS.

Everyone goes through challenging situations in life and whilst you may have successfully navigated through other difficulties you’ve faced, there’s nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when you need it. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness to realise they need a helping hand and that is something to be admired. You are taking responsibility by accepting where you’re at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking therapy. Therapy provides long-lasting benefits and support, by giving you the tools you need to avoid triggers, re-direct damaging patterns and overcome whatever challenges you face.

Can therapy help me?

How can therapy help me?

A number of benefits are possible from participating in therapy. Therapists can provide support, problem-solving skills and enhanced coping strategies for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship troubles, unresolved childhood issues, grief, stress management, body image issues and creative blocks.

Many people also find that counsellors can be a tremendous asset to managing personal growth, interpersonal relationships, family concerns, marriage issues and the hassles of daily life.

Therapists can provide a fresh perspective on a difficult problem or point you in the direction of a solution. The benefits you obtain from therapy depend on how well you use the process and put into practice what you learn.

How long will it take

How long do I have to keep having therapy?

Therapy can be short or long term. This answer varies depending on the problems you’re trying to solve in therapy, the intensity of your symptoms and how often you want to do therapy. The number of sessions you have will depend on you, your therapist, the type of therapy and complexity of the issues you want to work on.  The research indicates you might see best results after 6-12 sessions. It’s unusual for therapy to last for less than six sessions. Again, this varies with each individual. Ultimately, you get to decide how long you want to keep having therapy.

Privacy

Will my therapist tell others about what we talk about?

You have a legal and ethical right to privacy, or “confidentiality”, in therapy. This means your therapist is legally and ethically obligated to not share information about your sessions, including dates of sessions, what you discussed, your personal identifying information and even whether or not you are even attending therapy at all.

There are exceptions to confidentiality where a therapist is legally and ethically required to disclose details of your case with others:

  1. You sign a Release of Information giving that Therapist permission to discuss your case with others (typically a family member or another provider)
  2. You express intent to harm yourself or someone else
  3. There is reasonable suspicion of abuse/neglect against a minor child, elderly person, or dependent child
  4. A court order is received directing the disclosure of information.

Prescribe medication

CAN MY THERAPIST PRESCRIBE MEDICATION?

Although a Therapist might be familiar with psychiatric medication, they cannot prescribe any medications.

However, it is not unusual for a Therapist to request your permission to coordinate care with your prescribing professional (such as a Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Prescribing Psychologist, etc). This ensures your mental health care professionals are communicating about treatment goals to give you the best care possible.

CUSTOMER STORIES

Clients benefitted from working with Poldark, read what they had to say

Firstly, I have to say, what a kind and friendly man you are.

I was so nervous about starting therapy or counselling, wasn’t sure what it was exactly.

You put me at ease the very first moment.

Sure enough, like you said there would be, there were tough times and some emotional times, but it was important to go through that to get to the other side.

I’m so happy that I can now say I’m on the other side.

Life’s great thanks to your help.

Forever grateful.

Katie

I was recommended I see Poldark through a friend who had been to him.

I won’t say here why I needed to see a therapist… it’s supposed to be a review. I will say that for years though, nobody had been able to help me. I was reluctant because of that fact…but because of my friend I went.

7 sessions later, my complete life, I mean COMPLETE life, had changed for the better.

Let’s just say… I can never thank Poldark enough, oh and of course my friend for her support.

Lizzy

Yorkshire, UK

I was asked to leave a client review. I wouldn’t normally bother with that sort of thing, but because of the amazing help I received from Poldark, I feel it’s something I should do.

Maybe it will help new people make a decision to go see him. I was in two minds at first. So glad I did go see him.

I had had a tough childhood and it was affecting my marriage. Me and Poldark worked on some childhood stuff for a few weeks. I now feel like a new person. My Wife can’t believe it. She says she’s a new man in her life.

Poldark’s kind and very professional. You should definitely give him a call.
